Can you put a drink holder on a cooler lid?
Check the lid shape, support and access before using a cooler as a drink spot at a tailgate.

Yes, if the surface supports the whole base
A closed cooler can offer a convenient drink spot when its lid is level, stationary and broad enough to support the entire 5.2-inch Steadi base. The cooler must itself sit securely. Grooves, rounded corners, raised logos, molded cup wells and sloping sections can prevent full support. A photo of one cooler does not establish fit on yours.
Check the usable patch, not the cooler width
Measure the flat patch you actually plan to use. A large cooler can still have a small flat area. Keep the holder away from edges, hinges, latches and uneven transitions. If the base rocks or part of it hangs over a recess, choose a hard level table instead.
Keep ice access simple
Before anyone opens or moves the cooler, remove the drink and holder. Agree on a nearby temporary spot, such as a clear table corner. Do not expect Steadi to keep a drink upright as a lid tilts. If the cooler opens repeatedly, a separate table or appropriate side-mounted accessory may be more convenient.
Put the spot beside the chair
Choose a location you can reach without leaning across another guest, a hot grill or the path to the food. Leave hand clearance around the cup. A wider base occupies more space than the bare drink; it should not become an obstacle to plates, bags or knees.
Recheck after the setup changes
If the cooler moves, the pavement slopes or the group rearranges chairs, assess the spot again. Keep the drink away from grill heat. Steadi has no published wind or slope rating and does not replace a sealed container or secured transport arrangement.
